"An 11-year-old Russian boy stumbled across the 30,000-year-old remains of a woolly mammoth"

What strikes me as weird in the above sentence isn't the discovery of a carcass of a species that disappeared some 10000 years ago (I had to google that)1 , but that the discovery was made by an eleven year old kid. It raises so many questions:

Why was an 11yo in a place where no other human has been for 30000 years?
Are Russians that bad-ass?
Are Russians really bad at parenting?
Was the kid looking for something?
The other day I discovered a three month old pizza slice in the fridge, does that count?
Did that boy REALLY discover the mammoth?
